Mean of 6,y,7,14,x = 8

 \tt \large{mean =  \frac{the \:  \: sum \:  \: of \:  \: given \:  \: numbers}{the \: total \:  \:  number \:  \: of \: \: the \:  \: given \:  \: numbers} }

Sum of the given numbers = 6+y+7+14+x= 27+x+y

Total Number of Numbers = 5

 \tt \large{mean \:  =  \:  \:  \frac{27 + x + y}{5} }

 \large \tt \frac{27 +  x + y}{5}  = 8

 \tt27 + x + y = 8 \times 5

 \tt27 + x + y = 40

 \tt{x + y = 40 - 27}

 \large \boxed{ \tt{x + y = 13}}
