Given QUADRATIC equation :-

x² - px + q = 0

Difference of roots = 1

=

 \frac{ \sqrt{</strong><strong>D</strong><strong>} }{a}  = 1

=

  \frac{ \sqrt{ {p}^{2}  - 4q} }{1}  = 1

= p² - 4q = 1

= p² - 4q - 1 = 0 [H.P.]
