5. If we increase the length of a rectangle four times and reduce the breadth by half,
find the change in the area of the rectangle.​

1st case:

length = x

breadth = y

Therefore,

Area=xy

2nd case:

Length = 4x

Breadth = 1/2y

Therefore,

Area = 4x × 1/2y

=2xy

Therefore,

change in area=2xy - xy = 1 xy.

Ans = 1 square unit.
