Let total no. of candidates be x.

ATQ, no. of passing candidate = x-114

so,

94% of x is (x-114)

 \frac{94}{100} (x) = x - 114 \\ 94x = 100(x - 114) \\ 94x = 100x - 11400 \\  - 6x =  - 11400 \\ x = 1900

So,answer is (c) 1900

Another method

94% passed so 6% failed.

No. of fail candidate= 114

Total no. of candidates= x

ATQ,

94%(x)= 114

94x= 11400

x= 1900

you may go either ways .

hope it helps
