Question

5. In an Orchard, there are 150 tress. 65 of them are apple trees, 35 are pear trees and the rest are Orange trees. Find the ratio of

(a) apple to pear trees.

(b) oranges to apple trees.

(c) pear to total trees.

ANSWER :

Total number of trees in an Orchard = 150

Number of Apple tress out of 150 trees  = 65

Number of Pear trees out of 150 trees = 35

Now,

Number of Orange trees = 150 - (65 + 35)

                                     = 150 - 100

                                     = 50

The number of Orange trees out of 150 trees = 50

To be found :

(a) Ratio of Apple to Pear trees

(b) Ratio of Oranges  to Apple trees

(c) Ratio of Pear to total trees

So,

(a) Ratio of Apple to Pear trees

= \frac{65}{35}

= \frac{13}{7}

= 13:7

(b) Ratio of Oranges  to Apple trees

= \frac{50}{65}

= \frac{10}{13}

= 10:13

(c) Ratio of Pear to total trees

= \frac{35}{150}

= \frac{7}{30}

= 7:30

Hence,

(a) Ratio of Apple to Pear trees is 13:7

(b) Ratio of Oranges  to Apple trees is 10:13

(c) Ratio of Pear to total trees is 7:30
