5. In operating a water pump, a resistance of 480 N is overcome by an effort
of 72 N. If the distance of fulcrum from the point where the resistance
acts is 0.2 m. Find the distance from the fulcrum, where the effort is
applied and also calculate the mechanical advantage.

Answer :Effort × Distance of effort from the fulcrum =  load × Distance of load from the fulcrum

72 N D = 480N × 0.25 mD

D = (480 × 0.2) / 72 ND = 1.67 m
