AMMETER

Ammeter is the device that is used to measure the amount of electric current in a circuit system.

It was invented by Friedrich Drexler in 1884

It is represented by

\setlength{\unitlength}{1.2cm}\begin{picture}(0,0)\thicklines\put(0,0){\circle{1}}\put(0.5,0){\line(1,0){2}}\put(-0.5,0){\line(-1,0){2}}\put(-0.22,-0.13){\bf\large A}\end{picture}

Connection

Ammeter is connected in series in a a circuit.

As Ammeter is the device used in measuring amount of current flowing in a system , it has low resistance and if we connect it  in parallel it will get damaged as a lot of current pass through the ammeter which ultimately leads to short circuiting and the damaging of the entire circuit.

So ammeter is connected in series in a circuit .
