when someone pulls hair it directly applies pressure on ur scalp but during shave and haircut roots of ur hair are not damaged.

Hair is a protein part that do not have feeling receptors.

because when we go for a hair cut, since hair are basically nothing but dead cells, when a part of it gets cut off from the main root, we don't get hurt.

but when someone pulls our hair, the roots of the hair attached to the skin, the root of the hair in turn pull a point of the skin. according to the concept of pressure, lesser the area, greater the pressure,

thus we get hurt
