Given:-

→ Mass of the rifle = 5kg

→ Mass of the bullet = 10g

→ Velocity of the bullet = 500m/s

To find:-

→ Recoil velocity of the rifle

Solution:-

Firstly, let's convert the mass of the bullet from g to kg.

=> 1g = 0.001kg

=> 10g = 10(0.001)

=> 0.01kg

Now, let's calculate the recoil velocity of the rifle by using the Law of Conservation of momentum:-

=> M(-V) + mv = 0

=> -MV = -mv

=> V = mv/M

Where:-

V is recoil velocity of the rifle.

m is mass of the bullet.

v is velocity of the bullet.

M is mass of the rifle.

=> V = 0.01×500/5

=> V = 5/5

=> V = 1m/s

Thus, recoil velocity of the rifle is 1m/s .
