Among those who founded over the future of India was young Jawaharlal Nehru who had already made his presence felt during the non cooperation movement. What is more important, however was that Jawaharlal had in the meantime gathered some first hand knowledge of the agrarian problems by working among the peasants of Pratapgarh and Raebareli in UP, during 1920-21.
Though committed very loyalty to gandhijis leadership, Jawaharlal was critical of the leaders decision to withdraw the Non-cooperation movement. He also did not see eye to eye with either the ' no changers ' or ' pro changers'. He felt disturbed by the growing communal bitterness among Hindus, Muslims and, to an extent, among the Sikhs. During the stage of perplexity and confusion, Jawaharlal got an opportunity in 1926 to go to Europe.
