the reason behind calling it as Lotus Temple is it's amazing architecture. It was built in 1986 in the Shape of LOTUS flower.
this Temple can be visited by the person of any religion. there are no restrictions on the basis of religion.

The the interesting fact about this temple is there is no statue of any God. As it's built in a flower like shape, Lotus , that's why there are small ponds are also made surrounding the temple.

according to an English newspaper it is the most visited building in the world. And Lotus temple has won many awards for its amazing architecture.

It has a capacity of 2500 people at one time. There are Gardens surrounding the temple. When it was built it costs woping 1 crore Rupees.

The Lotus Temple, located in Delhi, India, is a Bahá'í House of Worship that was dedicated in December 1986, it's building cost $10 million.[1] Notable for its flowerlike shape, it has become a prominent attraction in the city. Like all Bahá'í Houses of Worship, the Lotus Temple is open to all, regardless of religion or any other qualification. The building is composed of 27 free-standing marble-clad "petals" arranged in clusters of three to form nine sides,[2] with nine doors opening onto a central hall with height of slightly over 40 metres[3] and a capacity of 2,500 people.[4]The Lotus Temple has won numerous architectural awards and been featured in hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles.[5] A 2001 CNN report referred to it as the most visited building in the world.[6]
