Given

Let's assume that triangle ABC

where DE||BC and D is the mid point of AB

To prove

E is mid point of AC

Proof

We know that if a line drawn || to one side of triangle.

It intersects the other two sides in distinct points, then it divides the other 2 sides in same ratio

 \frac{ad}{db}  =  \frac{ae}{ec}

DB/DB = AE/EC

(D is the mid point of AB)

1 = AE/ EC

EC = AE

So, E is the mid point

Hence proved.
