The best example of this is an object falling from a certain height.
If an object is at a height h from Earth, it would have potential energy mgh and zero kinetic energy. If I drop this object, it will fall and just before touching the ground it will have no potential energy left. All of the potential energy will be converted to kinetic energy 1/2mv². Also by conservation of energy, mgh+0=1/2mv²+0(Equated energies of object at height h and when it is just about to touch the ground) You can see you get formula for v.
Over the course while it is falling, the potential energy goes on decreasing and kinetic energy goes on increasing. Thats the consequence of increasing velocity of that object.
Note that in this example I've assumed air resistance to be negligible and height h not to be comparable to Radius of the Earth.
