•In 1960s, the green revolution was started. Norman Borlaug was the one eho initiated this programme and he is also titled "The Father of Green Revolution".
•In India this programme was initiated by M.S. Swaminathan.
•The strategies were
1) To develop plant breeding techniques in order to develop high yielding and disease-resistant varities.
2)The other strategy was the double- cropping system.
