Answer:

Let the number of moles in 60 seconds be x

5 moles ------> 30 seconds

x moles ------> 60 seconds

x = (5 × 60)/30

x = 10 moles

hope this helps you...

Given :

Time taken to diffuse 5 moles of gas through porous portion = 30 seconds

To find :

Number of moles of gas that can diffuse in 60 seconds .

Solution :

Number of moles of gas diffuse in 30 seconds = 5

Number of mole of gas diffuse in 1 second = 5 / 30

Number of moles of gas that can diffuse in 60 seconds = ( 5 / 30 ) * 60

                                                                                             = 10

10 moles of gas  can diffuse through the porous portion in 60 seconds .
