Given:

  • 5 more than thrice a number is equal to 5 less than the number

To find:

The number

So,

Let the number be p

Now,

According to the question,

The other number is 5 more than a trice of number is equal to 5,

Trice of the number = 3p

And

5 more than trice of number = (3p + 5)

So, the equation which is formed

⇒ 3p + 5 = 5

⇒ 3p = 5 - 5

⇒ 3p = 0

⇒ p = 0/3

⇒ p = 0

Hence,

The number is 0

- - - -

  • Verification:

LHS = (3p + 5)

Now putting the value of p = 0

= 3*0 + 5

= 0 + 5

= 5 = RHS
