Narrate an incident from your life, showing how you developed
self-confidence within yourself?

Hmmm…the question caused me to peer into the pool of introspection. So many reflections wobbled on its surface. Faces of those I’d looked to in search of validation. If this one or that thought I was good or had done good, it fostered self confidence, or did it?
I wonder that confidence comes from the strength to look into the mirror, into our own eyes with ruthless honesty and own what and who we see. Some days I nod, smile back or give myself kudos for simply not giving up, because no matter what, I seem to always believe I could have done better if only I’d……..
But…If I had to pin it down to a particular moment in time, it would be the night I told the man I loved and had been married to for over four decades, that I’d made a decision. I was leaving him, and as he exploded, hurled his wine glass into the preserve, kicked his patio chair across the deck and his phone flashed then glubbed to the bottom of the pool…I calmly walked away.
At that moment I’d done what I thought I never would or could. It didn’t feel good, but I think I believed if I could do that, I was stronger than I imagined.
Perhaps believing that—at that moment ignited the self confidence I tap daily to appreciate my blessings and believe no matter how hard it gets, I’ll get through it.
Great question, by the way. :-)
