Answer:
During breathing, we take in air or inhale air from the atmosphere through our nostrils. The air at first enters the nasal cavity. The nasal cavity contains many small hairs and mucus all around. The air that enters is filled with lot of dust particles and other particles that are not suitable for our body. The dust particles and dirt are refrained from entering our lungs or our body further by the hair present in nasal cavity. The particles get attached to the hair and mucus and clings to it and the clean air enters in our body. The mucus is present in form of a membrane. It keeps our nasal cavity wet and does not let it to become dry by providing moisture.
This is the function of nasal cavity.

Answer:
In some cases, such as when you have a cold or allergies, mucus may flow out of your nose or down your throat. When mucus comes out of your nose, it's called nasal discharge. It can also be called post-nasal drip or rhinorrhea. Although it's annoying, nasal discharge is common and usually goes away on its own.
