Selling price of jug=Rs.144

Let the cost price of jug be Rs.x

hence

, Loss = \frac{1}{7} of\: x \: = \frac{x}{7}

Now, Loss = C.P.-S.P

\frac{x}{7} = x \: - 144 \: or \: 144 = \frac{6x}{7}

⇒x = Rs.168.

Since, cost price of jug = Rs.168

Now, selling price = Rs.189

∴ Profit = Rs(189-168)=Rs.21

∴ Profit %= \frac{21}{168} × 100

=12.5%

Step-by-step explanation:

Selling price of jug=Rs.144

Let the cost price of jug be Rs.x

hence

, Loss ={1}/{7} of: x ={x}{/7}

7

1

ofx=

7

x

Now, Loss = C.P.-S.P

⇒ {x}/{7} = x - 144 or 144 = {6x}/{7}

7

x

=x−144or144=

7

6x

⇒x = Rs.168.

Since, cost price of jug = Rs.168

Now, selling price = Rs.189

∴ Profit = Rs(189-168)=Rs.21

∴ Profit %= {21}/{168} × 100

168/21×100

=12.5%.
