Given:

No of pencils in a box = 10

No of notebooks in a packet = 12

To Find:

The minimum number of boxes of pencils and packets of notebooks so that both are equal.

Calculation:

- Let the no of pencil boxes be x and the no of notebook packets be y.

- Then according to the question:

10 x = 12 y

⇒ x = 12/10 y

⇒ x = 1.2 y

- Using the hit and trial method, we get:

x = 6 and y = 5

So that the no of pencils and notebooks become 60.

- So, 6 boxes of pencils and 5 packets of notebooks must be purchased by Ariv to get equal no of pencils and notebooks.
