let the cost of one book is y.

Given : five pens and one book together cost Rs 225 and cost of ten pens = cost of one book

Form equations -

5x + y = 225 ------ (1)

10x = y -------------- (2)

solving the value x -

5x + 10x = 225

15x = 225

x = 225/15

x = 15.

Substitute the value of x in (2) equation-

10x = y

10(15) = y

y = 150.

Hence ,

cost of 1 pen is Rs 15 and cost of 1 book is Rs 150

Finding cost of 3 pens -

1 pen = 15

3 pens = 3 x 15 = Rs 45 .

Finding cost of 2 books -

1 book = 150

2 Books = 150 x 2 = Rs 300

Total cost of 3 pens and 2 books -

300 + 45 = 345.
