let the cost of pen be x and cost of pencil be y

5x + 6y = 90 _______ (1)

3x + 2y = 50 _______ (2)

Multiply 3 with (2)

i.e 9x + 6y = 150 ________ (3)

(3) - (1) => 4x + 0 = 60

4x = 60

x = 60/4 = 15

x = 15 in (1) => 5×15 + 6y = 90 , 75 + 6y = 90 ,

6y = 90-75 = 15 , y = 15/6 = 2.5 Rupees
