Percentage of pupil remaining left the

town = r = 3%

Now , Number of pupil in the town

= 276450

According to the problem given ,

x[(100-d)/100][(100 - r)/100 ]= 276450

x[(100-5)/100][(100-3)/100]= 276450

x × ( 95/100)(97/100) = 276450

x = ( 276450 × 100 × 100 )/( 95 × 97 )

After cancellation ,

x = 300000

Therefore ,

Original pupil in the town = x

= 300000
