GIVEN: 5 people work eight hours daily and complete a wall in 10 days.

TO FIND: How many days will it take to complete the wall if people work for 4 days?

SOLUTION:

Total work done by the employees when they work for eight hours =

                                                                              5 × 8 × 10

                                                                           = 400

Work done in four days = 5 × 8 × 4

                                         = 160

X is the number of days in which the wall can be completed.

Work done by extra people = 10 ×8 × x

Therefore 160 + 80 x = 400

                   80x = 400 - 160

                      80 x = 240

                       x = 3

Wall can be completed in 4 + 3 = 7 days.

These people will complete the wall in 7 days.
