Differences between translucent and opaque objects:
1) Translucent objects form faded shadows, whereas opaque objects form dark shadows.
2) Translucent objects allow a very little amount of light to pass through them, but opaque objects do not allow light to pass through them.
3) A piece of paper is opaque and if oil is poured on it, it will become translucent.
I can't recall any other differences other than this!
