Images formed by spherical mirrors :

Spherical mirrors are concave mirrors or convex mirrors.

Concave mirror forms an image which can be magnified , or of equal size or a diminished image. Concave mirrors can form real images, which are inverted. If the object is at the focus, then the image is formed at the infinite distance. If the image is very far (infinity) then image is formed at the focus.

If the object is within in the focal length then a virtual erect enlarged image is formed.  Doctors use this property to examine teeth, throat, tongue etc. of patients.

Convex mirror forms virtual images. They are erect and always diminished.  These mirrors are used as rear view mirrors due to this property.  Very far away objects appear very small.  Nearby objects appear bigger than far away objects.

As convex mirrors diverge the incident rays, no real image can be formed.
