Answer:

i) Mean is an appropriate measure of central tendancy when all the terms of data are fairly close to each other.

Example: we have data of form

60,61,65,67,62

mean of this data is equal to 63 fairly close to all the terms of data.

ii) Mean is an appropriate measure of central tendancy when all the terms of the data are not fairly close to each other.

Example:we have data in the form

50,51,55,57,200

mean of this data is equal to 82 which is not close to any of the terms present in the data.

Hopes it helps you .

Answer:

(Answer-i) Measures of central tendency

are numbers that tend to cluster around the

“middle” of a set of values. Three such

middle numbers are the mean, the median,

and the mode. For example, suppose your

earnings for the past week were the values

shown in Table 1.

(Answer -ii) the mean is not an appropriate

measure of central tendency but the

median is an appropriate measure of central

tendency. When the data has a very high or

a very low value, then mean is not an

appropriate measure of central tendency.
