Read the passage given below and answer the
questions that follow, each in about 20 words.

Ashoka converted many people to
Buddhism by winning their hearts, but not
forcing them. He sent many messengers
including his son Mahendra and his daughter
Sanghamitra to preach the religion in different
countries. He took special care of education.
He set up hospitals for animals and put a stop
to all animal sacrifices. Besides he set up many
monasteries.
