Money is indeed not everything, but it is still a lot. They say money can't buy happiness, but I have never seen a person dying of hunger with nowhere to live, and yet happy. For one sure thing, money is of utmost importance for survival, especially survival in the present world. Yet, I'd say that money is not EVERYTHING, like most people say, mainly due to the following 2 reasons :

• Money can't guarantee Life! You never know if you would even be able to use the money you spent days and nights earning. You might become a millionaire after totally devoting your life towards work, for years, but what if you die the very day you finally become one? Scary? I know :( That's why I'd say it's better to earn for a living, than to live for earning!
• The next most important reason is that there's something much more important than money! I'm talking about relations! People nowadays forget the ones who gave their everything just to make sure you're happy, your parents, because you're too busy making money. Do you think that's fair? You might realise it's not, when you lose them to death one day, while you were "Earning"!
