To Represent :

√2 on the number line.

Solution :

Taking Number line.

Let,

  • AB = 1 unit.
  • AO = 1 unit.
  • OB = x unit.

We have Pythagoras theorem,

 \tt\dagger  \:  \: \:  \:  \: { H }^{2}  = {P  }^{2} +{ B  }^{2} .

 \tt\longmapsto {OB }^{2}  ={ AB }^{2}  +{ OA  }^{2}

\tt\longmapsto {x }^{2}  = 1 + 1

\tt\longmapsto  {x}^{2}  = 2.

\tt\longmapsto x =  \sqrt{2} .

\rule{70}1

Note : Diagram provide in attachment.

Therefore, the value of x be √2 which is represent in the line.
