GIVEN

We are given the relation between Sahil's present age and his mother's age.

Let Sahil's present age be x

Then Sahil's mother's age will be 6x.

TO FIND

We have to find the present age of Sahil and his mother

We are also given that Sahil's age five years from now will be 1/3rd of his mother's present age

SOLUTION

We can depict the above situation in terms of the following equation

X + 5 = 1/3 ( 6X)

==> X + 5 = 2X

==> X = 5 years

==> 6X = 30 years

ANSWER

Therefore, the present age of Sahil is 5 years and his mother's present age is 30 years
