*Robert Hooke -- He discovered the cell in 1665. He took a slice of a cork and looked it in a microscope, the cork seemed to be small boxes so he named it cell.

*Anton Van Leewenhoek -- He is the one who created single lens microscope. And he observed first living cell.

*Schleiden -- He determined that plants are composed of cells.

*Schwann -- He identified the cell as basic structure of plant and animal tissue.

*Rudolf Virchow -- He is the one who showed that cells arise from pre-existing cell.
