The only bee that lays eggs is the queen bee. Drone honeybees, hatch from unfertilized eggs and are only seen during the spring mating season. Female worker bees, on the other hand, are hatched from eggs fertilised by drones.

4. Honey is the primary food source for worker bees, and colonies rely on stores to get through the winter months when foraging chances are few. The diets of the other classes of bees are more specialised. Worker and drone larvae, for example, consume more pollen, which contains more protein, to aid their physical growth.

5. Honeybees also perform an important job by pollinating flowers while foraging, allowing wildflowers to proliferate and farms to produce more and better produce. Pollination is required for many common crops to bear fruit or improve the quality of the fruit.
