- Diwali is a festival of lights. It’s primarily a 'Hindu festival' celebrated on the month Karthika (October to November)

- Diwali symbolises “Victory of light over Darkness”. It is associated with Goddess Lakshmi, the 'goddess of prosperity'.  

- People clean or renovate their homes to before Diwali. On the day of Diwali, People dr'ess up in new clothes', light up their diyas, offer poojas and burst crackers. They also prepare and offer sweets to people.

- The main day of the festival celebrates Lakshmi Pooja followed by mouth-watering delicacies and festivities of fireworks.  This day also marks the spiritual awakening or the ‘nirvana’ of Lord Mahavir, which is one of the most auspicious occasions in Jainism.
