the father age be x.

two children age be y and z.

equation= x = 2(y+z)

After 20 years,

the father age x+20.

the two children age 2(y+z)+20

equation= x+20= 2(y+z)+20

Sum of children's ages = y

Atq,

X= 2y

X-2y=0....eq I

After 20 yrs

Father=X+20

Sum of ages of children=y+40

Atq,

X+20= y+40

X-y= 20...eq2

Solving by elimination

X-2y=0

X-y=20

Y=20

Sum of ages of children=20 yrs

Father's age=

2y= 2*20= 40

Therefore age of father is 40
