The De-Broglie wavelength of the particle is 5 × 10⁻¹² m. hence option (b) is correct.

The De-Broglie wavelength of a particle having speed c/2 is ..

  • a) 3 × 10⁻¹² m
  • b) 5 × 10⁻¹² m
  • c) 1.8 × 10⁻¹¹ m
  • d) 4.2 × 10⁻¹² m

De-Broglie wavelength equation :

  • According to De-Broglie's equation, It states that a matter can acts as a wave as well as particle if Is mass is very small but the moving very fast ( comparable to light).
  • Wavelength of a particle is given by, λ = h/mv

if particle's mass is nearly equal to electron then, m = 9.1 × 10⁻³¹ kg

speed of particle, v = c/2 = (3 × 10⁸)/2 = 1.5 × 10⁸ m/s

Plank's constant, h = 6.63 × 10⁻³⁴ Js.

∴ λ = (6.63 × 10⁻³⁴)/(9.1 × 10⁻³¹ × 1.5 × 10⁸)

= 4.857 × 10⁻¹² m ≈ 5 × 10⁻¹² m

Therefore the De-Broglie wavelength of the particle is 5 × 10⁻¹² m. hence option (b) is correct.
