5. The denominator of a rational number is greater

increased by 17 and the denominator is decreased

Then, the denominator will be x + 7

the numerator is increased by 17 and denominator is decreased by 6

then, numerator will be x+17

and denominator will be x+7-6 =x+1

the fraction will be= x+17/x+1

x+17/x+1 =2

x+17 = 2(x+1)

x+17=2x+2

x-2x=2-17

-x=-15

x=15

So the numerator will be x =15

and denominator will be x +7=15+7=22

Therefore the original fraction was 15/22
