∴ initial velocity(u)=0
time(t)= 1 minute = 60 seconds
Given;
same accleration and retardation of car = 5m/s²
total time = 60 seconds
∴ In first 30 seconds it acclerates and in next 30 seconds it retards i.e. de-acclerates and comes to rest.
Distance covered in first 30 seconds is same as distance covered in next 30 seconds.
Let distance in first 30 seconds = S
By using the formula:
S = ut+1/2at²
S = 0+1/2×5×30×30
S = 2250 m
∴ Total Distance = 2×S = 2×2250 = 4500 m (Ans)
