5. The mean of six numbers is 26.
Five of these numbers are 22, 30, 29, 20, and 31.
Find the sixth number.

We know that,

Mean = Sum of all observations / Number of observations

Here, we are given mean and five observations. Also, we know the total number of observations. So, by simply substituting the values, we can find sixth term.

Let the sixth term be x

So,

\implies\sf 26 = \dfrac{22 +30+29+20+31+x}{6}

\implies\sf 26 = \dfrac{132 + x}{6}

\implies\sf 132 + x = 26 \times 6

\implies\sf 132 + x = 156

\implies\sf x = 156 - 132

\implies\sf x = 24

Mean is 26 , number of terms are 6.

Let sixth term be x

26= 22+30+29+20+31+x /6
26= 132+x/6
132+x= 26*6
132+x= 156
x=156-132
x=24
So the sixth term is 24
