Given that, potential difference across the wire having fixed resistance is tripled.

And we have to find out, by how much does the electric power increase.

Explanation :

Let the new potential difference be 3v [∵ It is tripled ]

And as resistance is fixed, so resistance = R

Now we know that,

                              Power (P) = V²/R

Putting the values,

⇒ P' = (3v)²/R

⇒ P' = 9v²/R

P' = 9 × (v²/R)

So we can that,

Electric power increases by 9 times the initial value.
