Step-by-step explanation:

Ratio of the present ages of A and B=5:6

Let age of A=5x

and age of B =6x

3 years hence,

Age of A was =5x−3

and age of B was =6x−3

6x−35x−3=54

⇒25x−15=24x−12

⇒25x−24x=−12+15

⇒x=3

Present ages of A =5x=5×3=15 years

and age of B=6x=6×3=18 years
