C.1) Trade with India was profitable for the EIC(East India Company" as India was special for them because they got lots of fresh spicefrom our country and also the got many fresh articles from here . That is what made our country special for them.

2)They forced the farmers to grow indigo in half of their land and and they have to give the grown indigo as tax. Due to this most of the farmers suicide and when farmers tried to explain the British that some farm lands are not suitable for cultivation of indigo they threatened to kill them.

3) In order to use it, the soldiers had to bite the end of the cartridges. These cartridges were said to be greased with animal fat. Hindus and Muslims regarded this as an attempt to pollute themselves and their religion. This produced the spark for the first war of independence.

4)The English educated middle class, the rich merchants, traders and zamindars of Bengal helped the British to suppress the revolt .

5)The educated Indians realized that the British wanted to keep India poor and backward. This realization united the Indians. Slowly,the feeling of unity or nationalism grew stronger. The growing feeling of nationalism resulted in the formation of India National Congress in 1885.

D.)The revolt of 1857 is the first war of independence also known as sepoy mutiny. Not because only sepoys revolted against the East India company...it's because the sepoys became the immediate cause fire the mutiny. ... Hence it become the immediate cause for the revolt but it's not completely led by sepoys .
