5) The product of the ages of Suyash before
three years and after 5 years is 153. Find his
today's age.​

Let the present age of Suyash = x years

We have to find, his  today's age.

Solution:

The age of Suyash before  three years = (x - 3) years

and

The age of Suyash after  5 years = (x + 5) years

According to question:

(x - 3) × (x + 5) = 153

x^{2} + 5x - 3x - 15 = 153

x^{2} + 2x - 168 = 0

x^{2} + 14x - 12x - 168 = 0

⇒ x(x + 14) - 12(x + 14) = 0

⇒ (x + 14)(x - 12) = 0

⇒ x + 14 = 0 ⇒ x = - 14(is not possible, the age never be negative)

⇒ x - 12 = 0 ⇒ x = 12

∴ Suyash today's age = 12 years

To Find :  his today's age.​

Solution:

Let say Suyash   today's age.​ =   A  years

before three years  = A - 3

after 5 years = A + 5

(A+ 5)(A - 3) = 153

=> A² + 2A - 15 = 153

=> A² + 2A - 168 = 0

=> A²  + 14A - 12A - 168 = 0

=> A(A+ 14) - 12(A + 14) = 0

=> (A + 14)(A- 12) = 0

=> A = - 14  or A = 12

Age can not be negative

Hence A = 12

Suyash   today's age.​ =   12 years
