Answer:

Answer

Explanation:

(i) The event of 100 metres race was in progress.

The significance of Special Olympics was that it was meant for specially abled people so that they can gain confidence.

(ii) The athletes stopped because the youngest of all the athletes fell on the ground.

The readers empathise with the situation because they can understand the feelings of that youngest athlete who has fallen on the ground and he was disappointed because all of his hardwork has gone wasted.

(iii) The spectators were surprised by seeing the helpful attitude of other athletes to the athlete who has fallen on the ground because usually it does not happen.

The athletes from far away countries have participated in the event.

(iv) The race come to an end with all the nine athletes winning gold medals.

It reflects the compassion of athletes towards each other and the true spirit of sportsmanship in each of them due to which each one of them won gold medal.

(v) The theme of the poem is 'True spirit of sportsmanship'. A true sportsman is the one who believes in fair play as in the poem we can see that when the youngest athlete fell on the ground, other athletes without thinking of winning gold medal went to help him

This poem has appealed me because it tells us that we should have compassionate and empathetic attitude towards others.
