Let the age of man = x
and that of son = y

According to the question :
5x = 12y

5x - 12y = 0 ...[ Equation 1 ]

Before 5 years,
Ages of man = x - 5
Ages of son = y - 5 .

x - 5 / y - 5 = 11 : 4
4 ( x - 5 ) = 11 ( y - 5 )

4x - 20 = 11y - 55

4x - 11y = 20 -55

4x - 11y = -35 .... [ Equation 2 ]

Equation ( 1 ) * 4 = 20x - 48y = 0
Equation ( 2 ) * 5 = 20x - 55y = -175

Subtracting both of them, 7y = 175 , y = 25 .

5x = 12y

5x = 12 ( 25 )

x = 60

Now, Age of Man = 60 , Age of his son = 25 .
