QUESTION:-

Two adjacent sides AB and BC of a parallelogram ABCD are in the ratio

5 : 3. If the perimeter is 200 cm, what is the length of AB and BC?

TO FIND:-

Length of side AB and BC

GIVEN:-

  • Two adjacent sides AB and BC of a parallelogram ABCD are in the ratio  5 : 3
  • Perimeter of parallelogram - 200 cm

EXPLANATION:-

Let AB =5x

AND BC=3x

So we know that the sides of parallelogram are equal this implies that :-

AB=CD

AC=BD

Now using the formula for perimeter of parallelogram

=> \bold{\boxed {2(s_1+s_2)}}

2(5x+3x)=200

10x+3x=200

16x=200

x=200/16

x=12.5

so AB IS 5x==>12.5×5

{\boxed{\boxed{\pink{\underline{\green{\mathscr { AB=62.5cm}}} }} }}}

and is BC is 3x ===>12.5×3

{\boxed{\boxed{\pink{\underline{\green{\mathscr { BC=37.5cm}}} }} }}}

PERIMETER OF PARALLELOGRAM = 2(sum of adjacent sides)

GIVEN :-

In parallelogram ABCD the ratio of adjacent sides are in ratio of 5:3.

SOLUTION :-

Let the adjacent sides be 3x and 5x

According to the question,

2(3x + 5x) = 200

=> 2 × 8x = 200

=> 16x = 200

=> x =12.5

Hence the sides will be :-

3x = 3 × 12.5 = 37.5 cm (AB)

5x = 5 × 12.5 = 62.5cm (BC)

Hence answers are 37.5cm and 62.5cm
