5% urea solution is isotonic with 12.5% solution of an organic compound the molecular mass of the urea 60. The molecular mass of organic compound is 153.6 mol/L.

Step wise explanation is given below:

- it is given that the molecular mass of Urea is 60 and 5% urea solution is isotonic with 12.5% of the organic compound.

- let this organic compound be x

According to the ideal gas equation: PV = nRT

- Where p is the osmotic pressure,

V is the volume,

n is the no. of moles

R is the universal gas constant with a value equals to 8.314 J/mol K

and, T is the temperature.

- c = n/v where c is the concentration in mol/L

So, osmotic pressure = cRT

- Osmotic pressure of 5%(or 50g/L) solution of urea = (50/M urea)RT = (50/60)RT.

- Osmotic pressure of 12.8% solution of organic compound = (128/Moc)RT

- As per equation,

(50/60)RT = (128/Moc)RT

50/60 = 128/Moc

= 153.6mol/L
