5. Vidya and Pratap went for a picnic. Their mother gave them a water bottle that containce
5 litres of water. Vidya consumed of the water. Pratap consumed the remaining water
(a) How much water did Vidya drink?
(b) What fraction of the total quantity of water did Pratap drink?​

Answer :–

  1. Vidya drank 2 litres.
  2.  \frac{3}{5} litres is the fraction of the total quantity of water Pratap drank.

Solution :–

1. Vidya drank  \sf \frac{2}{5} [Given]

Therefore,

Water drank by Vidya =  \sf \frac{2}{5} × Total Water

 \sf \frac{2}{\cancel{5}} ×  \cancel{5}

→ 2 litres

Hence,

Vidya drank 2 litres of water.

2. Water which is drank the pratap = Total Water - Water drank by Vidya

  • Total water = 5 litres [Given]

 \frac{3}{5} litres
