To find:

Volume of HCl gas formed when 2 litres hydrogen reacts completely with 2 dm³ of chlorine gas.

Calculation:

H_{2}+Cl_{2}\rightarrow 2HCl

So, 2 litres of H_{2}\:\equiv 2 dm³ volume.

Now, At STP ,

22.4 dm³ H_{2} reacts with 22.4 dm³ Cl_{2} to produce 44.8 dm³ of HCl.

Now, any reactant can be used in this stoichiometry. As both are in proportion.

So, 2 dm³ of Cl_{2} will give

 = \dfrac{44.8}{22.4} \times 2

= 4 dm³ volume of HCl.

So, 4 dm³ of HCl is produced.
