The narrator asked his fellow passenger if he could tell him that the girl kept her hair long or short. The man replied that he did not notice her hair because her eyes were more attractive but they were of no use to her because she was completely blind.
The narrator had thought many things about the girl earlier, one being, that she was blessed with the sense of sight and was able to appreciate the beauty outside the train window.
